Abstract

The theoretical investigation is carried out of a single vapor bubble and multibubble cluster in a strong acoustic field. The mathematical model proposed by Nigmatulin et al. (2005) is employed to describe the radial pulsations of a single bubble. The model uses realistic equations of state for the compressible liquid and vapor phases, and accounts for nonequilibrium evaporation/condensation kinetics at the liquid/vapor interface. To describe the bubble dynamics the discrete scheme is employed, according to which the individual motion (radial and translational) of each bubble is considered. The possibility of intensification of a bubble collapse in the cluster is investigated. The main types of interactions between vapor bubbles are considered.
