Аннотация:
This paper presents a study of two-dimensional waves in a pipe with water containing an annular near-wall cluster of bubbles. The waves result from the initial step-like pressure rise on one end of the pipe. Taking into account general assumptions for bubbly liquids, the wave propagation is described by a system of the macroscopic equations expressing conservation of mass, number of bubbles and momentum as well as the equation of the pressure in the bubbles in the approximation of cylindrical symmetry. The dependence of the maximum pressure amplitude of the waves in the pipe on the cluster size, the amplitude of the initial step-like liquid pressure rise at the pipe end, the volumetric gas content in the cluster is analyzed. It has been found that the presence of the bubble cluster increases the pressure on the wall. An increase in the initial step-like liquid pressure rise amplitude or the volumetric gas content in the bubble cluster leads to lager maximum pressures on the pipe wall. Existence of an optimal size of the bubble cluster providing the maximum growth in the pressure on the wall has been established.
